Deer

Dave and I had to get rid of our dog Chancho because he bit Jameson. We have beeen waiting for just the right dog to replace him. I am more the dog person in our family and Dave would rather not have one...or that is what he thought until a huge portion of our beautiful garden was devoured by deer. They were kind of a novelty when we first moved here. We enjoyed watching them out the windows. But now that they are steeling our food...the novelty has worn off. I am sitting here thinking...we better get a new dog soon or next year we might as well forget the garden. They ate almost all of our beans and peas. They don't like squash, zuccini, or pumpkins thank goodness, but don't turn your back for a minute...carrots are still out and apples are just coming on. We have cages around all the veggies, but that doesn't seem to phase them. As I sit here they are out there eating whatever they can get ahold of. They don't take me seriously, they just keep on eating.

Dave!!! we need a new dog!!!

I am so sorry to hear about Chancho and Jameson! I can't believe that you have deer outside your window. I was starting to feel like a country girl because of the horse living on the other side of the fence (who unfortunately has simply learned to block out Caitlyn's voice as opposed to coming when called). You do need another dog just to keep from becoming a feeding ground for the local woodland creatures!
