We went to Mackinac (Mackinaw) Island all the way back in early Aug, but I am just now finally posting about it. This is my absolute favorite vacation place. For those of you Westerners who probably have no clue where this place is, Mackinac Island is a small island in Lake Huron. It belongs to Michigan. Dave and I went on our honeymoon there and then had several years we were unable to make it back. This is our second summer in a row we have been able to go back. It is so fun and so quaint. Many people ride around the island and spend most of their time "Fudgin'" but the inner part of the island holds many beautiful secrets. Mackinac is known for its home made fudge. One other unique thing is that there are no cars allowed on the island so you have the option of footin it, bikin' it, or taking a ride on a horse and buggy.
We are fortunate to spend this time with Dave's parents and his 3 younger siblings, Dave's older sister Sue and her family, Some aunts and uncles, and last year Sarah and her fam came too. Dave's uncle Gary has a Cottage on the island and spends most of the summer up there. We rent a house with the family and make all of our own food. Jameson loves the island. He loves riding in the Burley! Sometimes he even protests his car seat when we get off the island. This year I forgot to dump my Utah photos before we left, so I did not have any disk space and had to get pics from Dave's sister. Jameson loved spending time with his "friends" aka his cousins. All the cousins that came to Mackinac are girls, so he got lots of attention.
One of the highlites of the trip was a Nash family part at Dave's parents house the last night. It was my first time seeing several of the neices and nephews. Jameson got to take a ride on Bumpa's motorcycle with his uncle Tim, and the kids swam in the pool. We also had the opportunity to see Dave's grandparents. This was particularly important because Dave's Grandma passed away about 3 weeks later. Grandpa is not far behind.
We had a great time other than the facft that my early pregnancy did not allow me to enjoy the giant carmel apple that I normally look so forward to. Oh well. I am sure we will go back!
Oh yes last of all...Dave was ever so proud as to hit 100miles on his bike while on the island. Unfortunately I only made 88.
